Quadrum Capital invests in Megahout
Quadrum Capital joins Megahout as a shareholder. Founder Jan Sijbesma will continue to lead the company as general manager and shareholder, together with the current management team. Megahout, based in Drachten, was founded in 1999 and makes wood products for the wood processing industry, mainly finger-jointed wood. A high degree of automation in combination with customization has led to strong growth.
The investment comes from the recently established Quadrum Evergreen Fund and is aimed at realizing Megahout’s growth ambitions. The company operates from a sustainable 14,000 m² building in Drachten and will expand by 5,500 m² in the course of 2022. This allows the company to guarantee the demand for certified spruce wood for construction in the coming years.
With its own importer Nielsen Timber, Megahout imports certified pine from Germany, Scandinavia and the Baltic States. In its factories, the company processes that wood into semi-finished products for the wood processing industry. These semi-finished products are used for roof construction, facade construction, garden houses, trade and packaging and in the agricultural sector. For wood processing, Megahout uses the most modern woodworking machines, specially developed for Megahout. The company supplies raw, planed and finger-jointed wood up to 10 meters in length from 10,000 m³ of its own stock.
