Novapac joins the New Packaging Group
New Packaging Group (“NPG”) announces that it is further strengthening its position in the packaging industry with the acquisition of Novapac B.V. (“Novapac”). In addition to Novapac, the New Packaging Group consists of industry peers Bliston Packaging (“Bliston”), Meulendijks Packaging (“Meulendijks”) en Nedupack (“Nedupack”), supported by the investment company NewPort Capital (“NewPort”).
This step strengthens Novapac’s position in the packaging industry and realises the joint growth ambitions of the New Packaging Group and Novapac. Anno Hart, founder and managing director of Novapac, will remain involved in the company, which will continue to operate under its own name. Anno will also contribute to the further growth and development of the New Packaging Group as advisor and co-shareholder.
Olaf Dolfin, CEO New Packaging Group, comments: “Novapac has been a highly respected industry partner of the other companies in the New Packaging Group for several decades already. In its history of over 30 years, Novapac has proven itself to be an innovative player in the market of plastic packaging solutions for both food and non-food applications and is known as the specialist for thermoformed plastic packaging for biscuits, confectionery and chocolate. With its focus on high-tech packaging designed to reduce costs and waste, Novapac fits perfectly within the New Packaging Group, which – with its own plastic extrusion and film production – can achieve 100% reuse of Novapac’s PET, PET/PE, PP and PS residual materials.”
Anno Hart adds: “Novapac joining the New Packaging Group is an important step in the history of the company I founded on 1 April 1990 and is an almost perfect match from both sides. Our product range varies from trays and platters for the meat and fish industry and AGF sector and interiors for packaging of biscuits, pastries and chocolate to protective packaging and inlays for cosmetics and electronics. It is therefore very complementary to the current product range of New Packaging Group. New Packaging Group in its turn has all the necessary knowledge, skills and machinery to make Novapac even more sustainable and therefore more future proof. I am very excited to work with my team to continue the business of Novapac within the New Packaging Group.
The acquisition of Novapac is the next step in New Packaging Group’s accelerated growth strategy in the packaging industry through buy-and-build and follows the recent investment in Nedupack last April. “New Packaging Group has developed into a leading player in the Dutch packaging industry in a relatively short period of time, with an annual production of approximately 1,5 billion packs and a group turnover exceeding EUR 55 million. By being able to design and produce innovative packaging solutions, from (plastic) pellets to foil semi-finished products to the final product, including the necessary moulds and tools, New Packaging Group is uniquely positioned to serve its customers with the sustainable packaging of tomorrow, produced in a zero-waste environment. We are very enthusiastic about the cooperation between the various companies that are part of the New Packaging Group and see many opportunities to continue the growth in the coming years and to realise significant synergies and economies of scale”, concludes Melvin Sie, Partner at NewPort.
