Kees Smit Tuinmeubelen sold to Craft Capital

The majority of the shares of Kees Smit Tuinmeubelen have been sold to Craft Capital, the investment company of the Roerink family from Twekkelo. Conseiller advised on the sellers’ side in this transaction.

The daily management of the family business, which is synonymous with quality and service, will be transferred to the current management, which includes co-shareholders Mitchel Oude Nijhuis and Ohannes Malihas. This transfer marks the start of a new chapter in the history of Kees Smit Tuinmeubelen. Oude Nijhuis and Malihas, together with Finance Director Wilma de Goede, are determined to continue building together with Craft Capital on the solid foundation laid by the Smit family.

Kees Smit Tuinmeubelen has grown to become Europe’s largest garden furniture specialist since 1942. The company employs 430 people and includes three ‘Experience Stores XXL’ in Almelo, Amersfoort and Venlo, each with an area of 8,000 square metres. The company also opened a distribution centre along the A35 near Almelo in 2021 with 32 loading docks annex warehouse, with a storage capacity of 85,000 square metres.

Craft Capital is an investment company founded by Gerjhan Roerink, Pieter Leyssius and a co-investor from Twente. The fund invests in Dutch family businesses to further expand them together with the management team.
